ThayerMahan Hosts SECTR

Over the Halloween weekend, kids from the Southeastern CT Club visited ThayerMahan to receive feedback on their projects. The club is open to anyone nine to thirteen years old from the New London area. Volunteer mentors help the kids tackle an assignment and prepare them for competition.

After being treated to a pizza lunch, the three separate teams made their presentations to our expert panel for comment and constructive criticism.  Research & Development Director Alex Lorman, Engineering Technician Charlie Altemus, AI Developer Niko Severino, Senior Engineer James Corcoran, and Seabed Technician / ROV Pilot Kyle Matirko provided feedback that will be incorporated into their final presentations at competitions. Mike Connor stopped in and let the kids know that what they were doing was building skills that are very applicable in today's job market.

After the presentations, the kids learned about our autonomous platforms and listened to a presentation on ROV operations by Kyle. This was the second year ThayerMahan has hosted the Club and their improvement was evident.
